In the year 2015, at age 19, she debuted her first single Here. It quickly became a hit that both critics and fans praised it. The song reached the top spot at 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of the year. Her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was among five songs that reached the top spots on Billboard which included Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as Billboard Hot 100. According to an interview Cara did in conjunction with Rap Up, the song held a lot of meaning for many people who listened to her tale of accepting and loving yourself. Cara has a reputation for her messages on emotional health, kindness, and self-love in her music. The music that she has written is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues as well as insomnia. In a Reuters' interview, she's described her album as half-tumultuous and half-perfected. She claims she has grown through therapy and she encourages anyone else to seek out assistance when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. Alessia Cara's parents bought her an instrument when she was 10. That was her first step with music. In 2013, she covered her favorite songs for YouTube, a popular platform for media. It was done to show that she had the ability and the confidence to pursue a career as an artist. One of her tracks, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and compose her own music.
