LeBron Raymone James Sr. (born December 30, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed King James he is widely thought of as one of the most successful athletes of all time. He is frequently compared to Michael Jordan in debates over the best basketball player of all time. James has taken home four NBA championships and four NBA MVP awards and four NBA Finals MVP awards three All-Star MVP awards and two Olympic gold medals. James holds the record for having the top score of points in the post-season. He is second in total career point total and seventh most career assists. James has been named as an NBA All-Star 18 times to the All-NBA Team a record 18 times, and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times. The third highest number of NBA Finals ever was ten which included eight consecutive games between 2011-2018. James was selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team and became the NBA's very first player to have scored 10,000+ points in rebounds, assists, and points in his career in 2022. James played basketball for St. Vincent St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. James was feted by media across the nation as the next NBA superstar. A prep-to-pro, he was chosen for the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall selection in the 2003 NBA draft. As the NBA rookie player of 2004, he established himself quickly as one of the most elite athletes in the league, winning the NBA MVP award for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. James, who was unable to win the championship in Cleveland in 2010, quit as a free-agent and joined his team the Miami Heat. This was made clear in The Decision.
